bbq chicken sandwich

A delicious and hearty BBQ chicken sandwich made with tender pulled chicken, tangy barbecue sauce, and served on a toasted bun.

Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
BBQ Sauce
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce your favorite brand
Buns
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns toasted
Toppings
  • 1 cup coleslaw optional
  • 1 cup pickles optional

Method
 

Prepare the Chicken
  1. Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker and pour the BBQ sauce over them. Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender.
Shred the Chicken
  1. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining BBQ sauce.
Toast the Buns
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
Assemble the Sandwiches
  1. Place a generous amount of the BBQ chicken on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles if desired, then place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
