- 1 cup sweet onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded provolone or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté onions and bell peppers in olive oil over medium heat until soft (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed veggies, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Fold half of the shredded cheese into the meat mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- In the last 10 minutes of baking, top with remaining cheese and a drizzle of ketchup.
- Let rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
