  • 2 medium fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Your favorite toppings (lettuce, tomato, salsa, guacamole)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped jalapeños, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about ¾ inch thick. Press your thumb into the center to prevent puffing.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat; lightly oil the surface. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  4. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
  5. Meanwhile, toast the burger buns until golden brown.
