Instructions
- Rinse and pit the cherries.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine pitted cherries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the cherries soften, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes.
- Squeeze lemons to obtain 1 cup of fresh lemon juice; strain if desired.
- In a pitcher, mix cooled cherry syrup with lemon juice and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well.
- Serve over ice and garnish with mint leaves if using.
