Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients with milk until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  6. Prepare cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese with butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar to desired sweetness.
  7. Frost cooled cakes, stacking layers as desired. Decorate with sprinkles or edible flowers.
