Description

Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes are a delightful side dish that brings warmth and flavor to any meal. Creamy, rich, and infused with a tangy twist, these mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy family dinners. With just a few simple ingredients and straightforward steps, you can create a dish that will leave your guests swooning for more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1 cup full-fat buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cloves roasted garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the Yukon Gold potatoes into even chunks.
  2. Place the potato chunks in a large pot of cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat with a pinch of salt and cook until fork-tender (15-20 minutes).
  3. Drain the potatoes in a colander, then return them to the pot off the heat to steam off excess moisture.
  4. Add buttermilk and butter while the potatoes are still hot, allowing them to melt together.
  5. Mash the mixture using a potato masher or ricer until smooth or to your desired texture.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving warm.
